  • Summary

    The Detail Inventory Assistant is responsible for checking in new vehicles at time of transport drop off and then prepping those vehicles for the lot. The Detail Inventory Assistant will also clean vehicles for deliveries including application of paint, fabric and/or rust protectants.


    Primary Responsibilities

    • Performs thorough inspection of new vehicles at time of drop off to ensure correct vehicles are dropped off along with no damage during transport.
    • Completes necessary paperwork to turn into the office to get new vehicles checked into inventory.
    • Communicates with Detail Supervisor of what vehicles arrive so Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) repair orders can be created. Also communicates any damage found to the vehicles at transport.
    • Performs final clean on all vehicles at time of customer delivery. Ensures the vehicle will meet the customer expectations.
    • Applies paint, fabric and rust protection on vehicles.
    • Assists sales and service with dropping vehicles off and picking vehicles up at other dealerships for warranty work, at the body shop or other outside vendors.
    • Works closely as a team with constant communication.
    • Speaks effectively with the customers in a polite and professional manner.
    • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
    • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
    • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
    • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean. Notifies Service Advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
    • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
    • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were recieved.
    • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
    • Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
    • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.


    • Basic automotive knowledge required.
    • Must be punctual, dependable, and reliable.
    • Must have a professional appearance and manner.
    • Must have valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
